Greater Christian Community Daycare of Upper Marlboro, MD has immediate full time openings for a Preschool Teacher and a Before/After Care Teacher.   We are also in search of Substitutes.  Applicants must have a passion for working with all kinds of children and be a skilled, seasoned professional.
Preschool Teacher
Job Type: Full-time

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Must have experience developing lesson plans for approval based on Abeka and Investigators Club curriculums.
  • Must have experience in arts and crafts development for preschoolers.
  • Must be willing to sing traditional nursery and Christian songs.
  • Must have experience with developmental meetings with parents to discuss a child's progress.
  • Knows how to give children positive reinforcement and encouragement.
  • Can handle effectively various situations with difficult children and parents.
  • Can handle event planning (planning holiday programs, field trips, etc.)
  • Has knowledge of the Maryland Credentialing Program.
  • Has computer software/hardware experience (i.e. Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, email and internet)
  • Can effectively manage your classroom in an open format daycare setting.

Qualifications and Skills
  • High School Diploma, Certificate of High School Equivalency or successful completion of college courses for credit
  • CPR/First Aid Certified
  • 9 hours of approved training in communicating with staff, parents and the public.
  • 3 clock hours of ADA compliance
  • 3 hours of Basic Health & Safety training
  • 6 semester hours or 90 clock hours of approved pre-employment training AND at least 400 hours of experience working with preschool children in a licensed child care center, public or private school or in a recreation and parks program, or 1 year of college. (Preschool Certifications)
  • Must be computer literate
  • Must have taught for at least 2 years
  • Lesson planning experience and can interact with parents, children and staff in a positive manner.
Before/After Care Lead Teacher
Job Type: Full-time

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Can consistently be present Monday through Friday for the hours of 6:00 - 9:30am and 1:30 - 6:30 pm.
  • Must have experience developing lesson plans and planning activities for school age children.
  • Must have experience in arts and crafts development for school age children.
  • Must be willing to sing traditional nursery and Christian songs.
  • Knows how to give children positive reinforcement and encouragement.
  • Can handle effectively various situations with difficult children and parents.
  • Can handle event planning (planning holiday programs, field trips, etc.)
  • Has knowledge of the Maryland Credentialing Program.

Please note that the Before/After Care teacher position is full time, but work hours are split shift.
Substitute
Job Type: On-Call, needed on occasion

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Must have experience in a daycare or school setting.
  • Be available for the needed hours to cover staffing needs during the daycare hours of 6:00am to 6:30 pm, Monday through Friday, in the event a staff member is absent from GCCDC.
  • Must be willing to sing traditional nursery and Christian songs.
  • Must have experience in following curriculums and lesson plans.
  • Knows how to give children positive reinforcement and encouragement.
  • Can handle effectively various situations with difficult children and parents.
  • Can interact with parents, children and staff in a positive manner.
  • Can effectively manage your classroom in an open format daycare setting.

Qualifications and Skills
  • High School Diploma, Certificate of High School Equivalency or successful completion of college courses for credit
